TampereRaw
TampereRaw is contemporary music ensemble from Tampere.
TampereRaw was founded in 2001 out of the desire of a few Tampere Philharmonic musicians to create a forum a forum for performing new concert music in Tampere. The ensemble’s concert activities began with concerts designed by composer Jouni Kaipainen.
The guiding idea of TampereRaw throughout its existence has been to gather together musicians who are open-minded towards modern music and to perform programs that prominently feature the latest music of our time.
TampereRaw’s Artistic Director, Anna Angervo, oversees the ensemble’s concerts, working closely with the musicians and composers involved in the projects.
TampereRaw performs regularly in Tampere and at various festivals in Finland and across Europe.
In August 2025, the ensemble appeared at the Katrina Chamber Music Festival in Åland. In early October, TampereRaw performed at the Usedomer Musikfestival, presenting a wide selection of new Finnish music.
The ensemble has collaborated extensively with several Finnish composers and aims to include premieres and commissioned compositions in its repertoire regularly.
In recent years, TampereRaw has collaborated extensively with representatives from other art fields, and the fruits of these collaborations will be heard in the ensemble’s new concert series, ”Ajan ääni – Echoes of time”, starting in autumn 2025 at Tampere Hall.
TampereRaw has been awarded the National Madetoja Award for its work on contemporary music.
